What Your Mechanic Wishes You Knew Before You Walked In
Let me be blunt—there’s nothing easier than a customer who knows their stuff. I’m not saying you need to memorize your car’s VIN or whisper sweet nothings to your timing belt... but if you want to save time, money, and frustration? There are a few things we wish you’d come in knowing.
1. "I don’t know what’s wrong" is fine. But tell us what you do know.
What did it sound like? Smell like? Feel like? When did it start? You don’t need the diagnosis—we’ve got that covered—but details are gold, baby.
2. Don’t say, “My friend said…” unless your friend’s name is ASE-certified.
We love Uncle Bob, really. But if he’s never held a wrench outside of a YouTube comment section, maybe let us handle the heavy lifting.
3. Maintenance ≠ repairs.
Brakes wearing down over time? That’s normal. Your transmission falling out because you never changed the fluid? That’s on you, sweetheart.
4. We’re on your side—if you picked the right shop.
We want your car to run like a dream. We don’t want to see you every month because you keep patching problems instead of solving them.
5. Be honest. With us and yourself.
We’re not here to judge. Can’t afford the full repair today? Tell us. We’ll find a plan. But playing coy only wastes your time.
